My thoughts on the video...

It was conceptually and visually intriguing. She looked stunning, and the whole video has a very beautiful, underlying message. This is one of Gaga's most sexually charged videos, and is indefinitely, nothing short of Gaga. Her collaboration with Steven Klein is clear; it has a very fashion appeal and cinematic approach, rather than being a simple, sing and dance music video. As with all Gaga music videos, there is a very shrouded plot line and theme, that you must uncover. I've already viewed the video, TONS, repeatedly watching it to understand. From what I can tell, it is a very strong commentary on homosexuality, androgyny, homophobia, and as Gaga has stated before, the lust for another's love; someone who won't accept you, and can't necessarily accept themselves either. The men go back and forth between stilettos and military outfits, which I think is a very interesting point. I believe that it is symbolic of hiding, and that the men are "hiding" the truth, and not allowing people realize who they are. And that is simply what I love about a Lady Gaga video. It makes you think. To go beyond what is literal and generic, to go past the blatant sexuality, even if it makes you uncomfortable. And that is what art is. It is a piece that receives both negativity and positivity. But most of all, it is something that generates great emotion or opinion. Because that is, in fact, what art/pop culture feeds off of. But anyway, I think I'm getting off topic and my thoughts are a blur. This video will MOST CERTAINLY be bashed, insulted and parodied. Contrary to that, it will be loved, understood and honoured by others. Everyone has their own opinion and you have to respect that. At the same time, I could care less about a child's/journalist's/celebrity's perspective of this video, because to be quite honest, some people are ignorant fools. They either don't bother to understand the imagery, or they simply don't have the brain capacity or interest for the art. And that is completely fine, because not everyone understands or likes this type of media. Some people like technology or gaming, or sports, or astronomy etc. Another point the video sends, is the sensitivity of religion. It is a very fragile subject that is tossed around, discussed very thoughtlessly, but also, no religion doesn't speak against something. Which is why I think she may be subtly dressed as a nun. The story that I've interpreted goes along these lines...:

A man, who served the army at war, dies. His wife, Gaga, mourns his death. However, he and many of the other soldiers hid their sexuality, due to their religion and peers, which is why she doesn't want him back nor does the administration. Gaga also struggles with her sexuality and wants to be loved by the other men, who struggle as well. In the video you experience the bond between the men, and the intense fight that Gaga puts up for them. Gaga plays three characters, the wife, the nun, and the troubled person. In the end, you can see how the nun, portrayed by Gaga, has chained up the man on the bed, literally, figuratively and mentally, who I assume is the husband. Also, in the end, the troubled female learns to free herself of her constricting religion. Mixed in between the video are representations of Gaga in the past, and obviously, dance sequences. I could seriously go on for DAYS explaining and discovering each and every relevant symbol, but I won't bore you any longer. That is, if your still reading LOL. Hope you enjoyed my VAGUE, probably confusing explanation. Overall though, the video is an emancipation to be reckoned with. Hopefully this video will push a new generation of politics and mindsets, but I highly doubt it, because it isn't domestically-friendly, and does not clearly state its message to everyone.

Here's the iPhone 4:

It makes me want to buy one SOOOO BADLY..... LOL but it is 100% redundant and um... yeah that's it. HA. Wow I type way too much. But I seriously wish I could explain my theories and ideas, because the video is beautiful and has so much to offer. But I can't, cause I don't have time and it would take me days to plan... AHAHA. Anyway, Alejandro.
