Feels like it's been years

Since I've blogged, when in fact, it's only been a few short days... Maybe I'm an addict and I'm feeling the symptoms of withdrawal... ? Nope. Anyway, I finally finished the second book I bought a few months ago ( I think? Bad memory), and although it took me longer to finish, it was an amazing book.
Title: Lullabies for Little Criminals
Author: Heather O'Neill

The book encompasses the true reality of impoverished, broken families, through the vulnerable and depressing perspective of a thirteen year old, Montreal girl. She lived with her 30-something year old father ( or 20 ? Can't remember... wow I'm so going to have Alzheimer's.) , who was abandoned by his spouse at very early stage of her life. Although I have never witnessed the grim lives of street children, the story felt very realistic. Baby, the protagonist, fought through many problems in this book - a vast array of issues, spanning from prostitution to drugs, from finding love to being loved - and because she was only 13, her intuition, and sense of logic, was very childish. However, she was intelligent, and achieved exceptional grades. But none of that mattered, when your father is never around, or always high on dope, heroin, or weed. Life becomes a blur, and you only have yourself. Thus, in my opinion, I felt that the novel was truly a poorly uneducated, search for love. Baby had to go through all types of dangerous friendships, heartbreaks, and daring expeditions, in order to straighten up herself, and the people around her. The book has a great ending, and all along the way, you truly gain insight on how much you can not see, by simply staring at the exterior of someone. Another wonderful book to read. My next project will most likely be either Columbine or Med Head. I'll explain when I finish reading either book. If that never happens, then you can disregard me ever having said that...
